I am extremely disappointed with my experience at AltaMed Clinic. My wife recently went in for a follow-up appointment and ultrasound, and we had clearly informed the staff ahead of time that we did NOT want to know the gender of our baby. Despite this, the staff disclosed the gender during the visit. We are only 3 weeks away from our due date and had intentionally waited this entire time to keep it a surprise. This was a very special moment for our family that cannot be undone, and it is incredibly upsetting that our wishes were not respected. This situation reflects a serious lack of attention to patient preferences and communication. We trusted the clinic with something very important to us, and that trust was broken. I hope AltaMed takes this feedback seriously and ensures that patient requests—especially ones clearly communicated—are properly documented and respected moving forward so this does not happen to other families.

I've never left a review for a medical center before (and I'm not entirely sure if this is the 'right' company to credit this to), but I just wanted to share my experience with the team here. I visit Dr. Valerie Greco at this location for my annual well-woman exam, and she's a lovely and patient doctor who takes her time explaining things to me, even if they're very 'basic' (birth control, side effects, etc). My review is also for the overall AltaMed team and their handling of my billing and insurance issues with Aetna; long story short, my annual well woman exam *should* be covered every year under preventative care, but two years in a row, I was billed a total of over $200 for this service by Quest because my insurance said they wouldn't cover it. This has happened to me with a separate PCP before (same thing - one year my annual physical randomly cost me a couple hundred??), and when I asked for their help (like providing documents for the tests they ordered, requests to talk to my insurance to explain that it's preventative, etc), they basically barely helped, and in the end told me to just pay the amount because my insurance no longer considered the same tests I had the year

The doctors and front office are great, but if you need a referral to see a specialist or get tests... You will be calling them every few days to get the paperwork sent over with all of the required information. It takes me over a month to schedule a mammogram because they can't get an authorization and doctors orders sent to the imaging center without errors.

Dr said she wanted to see me in 3wks from my 1st app but didn't schedule me before I left the office. I then call to make an app 2 wks later and she is booked up for 2 months. That doesn't sound like a caring or very compassionate Dr to me. She also said she would send me a referral and have it expedited because my condition but I have not gotten anything and its going to be 3 wks already. I think they treat you differently when you decline certain services. As a patient you are allowed to do so without mistreatment but I don't think im being treated fairly now. It's the patients right to choose what they want with their body despite what Dr thinks.

Adversarial experience; these were not advocates for me as a patient, assuredly. Unfortunately, there was no care to be found here. They seem used to a clientele they can dominate. I was scheduled for a referral visit without my knowledge so I had a significant copay, despite the fact they could have slotted me in for my free physical. However, I would come to see this as a blessing. The longer I experienced the lack of care, absence of professionalism and general decorum, the less I wanted any of the young women I encountered (nurse and PCP named Mary) to touch me. That is an obvious red flag. Several mistakes were made along the way of a very routine and otherwise easy referral appointment. The people that come to ChapCare, have to. In other words, this establishments main population seems to be Medicare based. I cannot recommend.
