I would not recommend this office at all. I was told insurance would cover my treatment after copay, but billing became a drawn out mess for almost two years. I had to escalate repeatedly just to get any progress, while still receiving collection threats and having to contact my insurance myself for basic clarity. After reading other reviews, this seems like a pattern. I would avoid this office entirely.

Tldr: They tried to charge us more for what insurance had already covered. Scheduled as a first time patient for routine checkup and cleaning, covered by my insurance. Had to come back another day because the hygienist wasn't there that day?? Sure, fine. Then started getting bills in the mail... Contacted insurance, told us we should owe nothing and insurance actually covered 100%. Called Newport dental about it and THEN they said they would clear our balance? After 4 months of getting bills saying we need to pay them? The bill for one person wasn't even itemized, and were never actually told what it was for even when we called. Anyway. Call your insurance to see if you actually owe anything, because they might bill you anyway when you owe nothing.

I've been coming here for years and have had major restorative dental work done by Dr Li. Everyone at this office is professional, caring and compassionate. I have never had a problem. I highly recommend this practice.

This was one of the worst dental experiences I’ve had. The office manager/biller, Maria D. Casilas, was extremely unprofessional and had a very dismissive attitude. There was little to no customer service, and I felt pressured rather than cared for as a patient. I went in requesting a simple tooth extraction due to pain. I was told the extraction would not be done unless I paid about $700 for a bone graft. While a bone graft may be recommended in some cases, it is not always medically necessary and should never be forced on a patient. Treatment decisions should be discussed between the dentist and the patient — not used as a condition for care. I made it clear that I only wanted the tooth extracted and could not afford additional procedures. Despite this, I was denied service. No patient should be refused basic pain relief because they decline optional treatments. It was also concerning that the office manager appeared to be making decisions on behalf of the dentist, Dr. Choi, rather than allowing the doctor to directly discuss options and recommendations with me. The staff here is professional and all personally nice. They have had comprehensive services for what I needed, like a periodontist, so I didn't have to go somewhere else. I have confidence in their recommendations. It's so hard to find a dentist you like and trust. I tried three other places in Pasadena before I found this one based on a friend's recommendation, and have now been coming for at least a couple of years
