Very rude front desk receptionist. She would mumble under hear breath talking mess about what you say/ask. Tried to talk to manager/owner and they just played a belittle card to my wife. Told her "Good luck with another physical therapist, hardly any in the bay area." Multiple reviews of this place being mean, if you care for your people coming look elsewhere.

Leslie and Hunter were amazing. :) They both were very helpful and kind in my treatment and helped me through some terrible foot pain that I had been dealing with for years. I'm giving 5 stars because of how well Leslie and Hunter treated me. However, there is something really wrong with how this office treats you if you have Medi-cal. Starting with trying to deny you right off the bat. If they do not want to accept Medi-cal they shouldn't accept it. Its interesting to see the disparity between the good ratings and the bad.

My mother had her first ever appointment there today with a very unsatisfactory outcome. She informed them that her English was very limited and was asked to fill out forms she asked if the forms were in Spanish and they said no and shrugged. She then called her daughter to help interpret since they do not offer any phone interpreters. One of the staff black hair middle age short statue was very rude and mocked my mother about her stating how California has a law where an interpreter should be required. She then walked to the physical therapist and made the comment again mocking my mother. They then told my mom if she didn’t like it to complain to the manager and walked away leaving both my mom and her daughter speaking.of course my mother walked away after being treated like that. They called her daughter speaking in a very rude tone claiming they were trying to get a translator when they clearly stated they do not offer translators. And hanged up the phone. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL !! very rude staff is horrible ! If I could leave -100 stars I would they don’t event deserve 1.

I came with my partner yesterday and we had one of the best experiences either of us have had in a long time. My partner is looking to a major unexpected operation so we've had many frustrated experiences in that - but not here. They fit us in because he was in so much pain. Negeene was friendly, patient, an absolutely fantastic listener, interesting and ease-putting herself and very thorough with treatment and notes. I appreciate so much both the front desk and therapist Negeene. It's like going back to a different time when community organizations cared about the community. I hope with all my heart this place survives many more years.

UPDATE: I altered my previous review to five stars. The initial review raised concerns about the front desk clerks. Soon afterwards, the front desk clerk Denise reached out to me, and we had a lengthy discussion regarding my concerns and how she could help resolve them. Each and every concern I had was resolved. This was actually a very kind gesture. I realize that the mission of Berkeley Community Physical Therapy is to provide very effective, quality PT services to many of those who do not have the means to go elsewhere. And, yes! the physical therapists are amazing! I can't believe! that this didn't hit me earlier. I mean, where else am I able to get top notch PT for a broken fibula? Hello! So, of course, the front desk clerks cannot immediately return some of the phone calls. They are overwhelmed with the phone calls, faxes, emails, all requesting appointments to get into the clinic. And, the place is booked solid, sometimes for months. Man, let's just give the clinic some grace. They're good people.
